Four dice is all you need to settle down in a Bohemian village. There are plenty of options to combine individual dice into totals, determining where you can place your figures. In the villages, you can establish shops, factories, and mills, or run an inn. Alternatively, you can move into manors, churches, farms, and the town hall in order to generate various amounts of income. Each type of building will be scored differently in the end.

The thing is: buildings that are lucrative at the start will become less and less attractive as the game progresses. Some buildings only provide income when the game is over and so they force you to adjust your strategy throughout the game. When all buildings of one type are occupied, you can kick someone else out and take the building for yourself. This way no one will be able to tell for sure how much each player will earn until the very end.

“Bohemian Villages” by Reiner Stockhausen is an easy-to-learn family game that is also suited for experienced gamers due to its strategic potential. With a playing time of about 30 minutes, it is also very well suited as a “filler”. The game has been illustrated by Klemens Franz and can be played by 2-5 players of ages 8 and up.
